Crepes With Maple-Pear Sauce

1 15.25-ounce can pear slices, drained

1 cup pure maple syrup

1 package (10 crepes) ready-to-use crepes

1/2 cup chopped pecans, toasted

Step 1: In a small saucepan combine pear slices and maple syrup; heat through over medium-low heat.

Step 2: Meanwhile, fold crepes into quarters; arrange on a serving platter. Spoon hot pear mixture over crepes. Sprinkle with pecans.

(For cold winter days, like today.)

6 cups sliced potatoes (5 large)

1 med. onion chopped fine

6 slices bacon

1 1/2 t. salt

1/4 t. fresh ground pepper

4c. milk

4 t. unsalted butter

Finely shredded Cheddar Cheese

Parsley sprigs

Saute bacon until crisp in skillet. Drain on paper towels. Crumble. Saute onion in bacon fat until tender. (do not brown)

Combine potatoes, onion, bacon, salt, pepper, milk and butter. Simmer for 30 minutes. (do not boil). Garnish with shredded Cheddar Cheese, and fresh parsley right before serving.

Love Letters

Part of my work, and passion, involves collecting antique books.

I have just received a most wonderful book titled: Love Letters and How to Write Them copyright 1903. On the cover page it states: AN INVALUABLE WORK ON THE ETIQUETTE OF INTRODUCTION, COURTSHIP AND PROPOSALS, WITH DIRECTIONS WHEN AND HOW TO WRITE LOVE LETTERS, MAKE AND ACCEPT PROPOSALS.........

As an artist, my head is swimming with the possibilities of combining this new find, with my tintypes from the 1800s. I feel love is in the air!
